I have a 1999 Suzuki GSX 750 F which is in pretty good condition… for some reason the tail light fuse keeps blowing (and also when this goes the instrument panel lights do too – I assume they’re on the same circuit) When I change tail light fuse, the tail light and instrument panel backlight come back on… this doesn’t affect the head light, which works fine, or the brake light which also is fine…any ideas why the tail light fuse keeps blowing… and how can I fix it?

Michael asked:

I am very interested in becoming, or at least gaining the knowledge to become a motorcycle mechanic. I would prefer to specialize in BMW bikes. I have been told about some sort of phoenix trade school, but I have no information other than that it exists, and a brief explanation over it’s course. I’ve also hear of MMI and AMI, but read here at some point that they are not very great.

Could anyone point give me some information over the way one would accomplish this goal?

motorycycle battery issues?

BILL!!! asked:

Ive got a 1999 Honda F4, and it seems like the battery is having a hard time holding its charge, or isnt being charged at all by the bike. I can ride around for a bit, but if i stop, turn the engine off, and leave it sitting with the lights on for anymore than 10-15 seconds, there is not enough power to get it started again. After that, it seems like the battery is not charging at all, and there have been a couple of situations where i came up to a red light, got ready to go, and stalled the bike without being able to start it back up again. I took the battery to get tested at the local automotive parts store, and they said the battery is still good.

Im not sure if this has anything to do with the battery problem, but i also noticed that if i pull back on the choke to more than 50%, the engine sputters and dies

Ive got enough money to pay for a diagnostic or repairs to the bike, but very likely not enough for both… is there any help you guys can give me? Thanks in advance!!!!

Gixxer asked:

1. What would be the best type of paint to use to repaint my plastic motorycycle fairings gloss black using a gravity feed gun attached to a compressor.

2. What is the best way to clean out the paint gun when im finished with a particular paint.

3. What would I use as the top coat after the base color to get that glossy look of modern automobiles.

4. What would I use besides massive sanding to get the scracthes out of my plastic they are deep grooves but i dont want to sand to much because the fairings are pritty thin im thinking bondo or do they make primers that fill in little grooves?

Any help would be greatly appreciated im just inexperienced and I thought my motorcycle fairings would be a great project since they are already pritty messed up. Also I would enjoy to hear any tips that would help me along on this project thanks

Bonkers37 asked:

I have a small area (about 1×2 inches) that got scuffed up deep to the abs plastic on my motorcycle fairing which i would like to fix. Is it possible for me to paint the area by taping off and working on the damaged area? If so, what is the procedure and will it be able to blend into the original paint job if done so correctly?

Hello Everyone! I guess there are many among you who face continuous problems with the overhead cams or with a leaking oil seal and the mechanic drives you nuts. Thus came the concept of a motorcycle blog; apart from the usual user interactions, what else would u like to see there?

Can I get a motorcycle painted at a shop that paints cars?

Rachael asked:

This might be a stupid question, but I was just wondering if an auto customization place that paints cars would also paint a motorcycle. And if so, how much would it cost?
It would be the tank, front fender fairing, and the two fairings on each side. Rims and frame would stay as is. So I would be removing and just dropping the stuff off.

How does a concrete floor kill an auto/motorcycle battery?

Daniel S asked:

I left my motorcycle battery on the concrete floor in my garage for months and it went bad. My mechanic buddy working on my bike said that was a well known no-no but didn’t know the prinicple behind it. In the end, we couldn’t get another charge into the battery.

How exactly does a floor kill the battery like that?
