John asked:

Hi, I am starting the Basic Rider Course tomorrow, which is over by this Friday, and once I am done with that, do I go to the DMV and take a test to get my motorcycle license? Or do I have to get a motorcycle permit or anything? Is there even a motorcycle permit?

Also, I do have my driving permit.
when I say motorcycle, I mean under 250cc

well you should get you permit first just so you don’t have to take the ridden test when you go to get your license plus most motorcycle schools require you to have a permit before you can even take the class then what you should do is go to the school while they are having the class and watch the riders and instructors just to know what it is that you will be doing while in this class the instructor’s are hard-asses don’t be showboating or screwing around or they will fail you and another thing i don’t wanna hear bout another teens untimely death because of a lack of exp so wear you’re fking helmet and proper riding gear these item have saved my life off and on the road Cpt H

Well, none of the answers so far have actually answered your question, which is not surprising, because we don’t know where you live, so we’d just be guessing. Steve Y

In Texas, you must also pass the written exam then you are issued a class M license with a 250cc restriction. bluff mike
