my friend asked if i could paint her a.. a mural if you will, on her black motorcycle helmet. I want to know what kind of paint there is that i can use that won’t chip off and won’t be so difficult. I know acrylic will chip off, oil is just.. no. tempra. i don’t think so.

Should i just buy some car paint or something?

model paint (model cars, airplanes, etc.) should stick to the fiberglass helmet shell, a few clear coats will be necessary. yo-han

There is a guy on the internet that paints motorcycle helmets with House of Kolor paints. His work is amazing and he is obviously very talented and knowledgeable, so i would use what he uses. It’s an automtive urethane/polyurethane paint. i don’t know how much it is, but i’m sure you could go to there website and find out were to buy it. Chris H

I would suggest before you go any where near a bike helmet with paint you ask the makers of the helmet what to use. If you use the wrong paint it could at best weaken the structure of the helmet and at worst cause it to fall to bits, and even worse fail if your friend has a fall off. so check it out. Andy Pandy

A lot of the pinstipers I know use OneShot From lettering to handpainted murals. They suggest to me to then shoot it with clear poly to seal it.
