What the best way to get motorcycle grip’s to stay on the handle bars?

Remove grips and sand the handle bars apply a little glue not Elmer’s and let set and there you go, Make sure they are the right size if they come off to easy they are to lose, hope this helps JT B ford man
I used some of that black tape that golfers use on their club handles. I’ve seen some guys use it on softball bats as well. I’m not sure what its called exactly but it should provide enough friction to keep the grips from spinning and it isn’t nearly as messy and glue or other adhesives.

Rough up the bars with sandpaper then use either grip glue (sold where they sell grips) or 3M spray adhesive (70 or 90 will work but 90 is best).
With the spray, spray a light coat on the bar then in the grip. Push it on fast and line it up where you want it. You can’t move it in about 10 seconds so work fast! The grip glue doesn’t work as well and takes longer to dry. Have a rag ready to catch any dripping glue with either process.
If you have a dirt bike or atv you can also use safety wire in the slots made for safety wire. aGhost2u

Sanding, and cleaning with acetone before applying the grips is a good idea.
My friend’s and I have also had good luck with 2-part epoxy for securing the grips.. ScooterTrash
take off old grips.
clean bars with rubbing alcohol or acetone.
spray hair spray (cheap firm holding works best) in the open end of the grip. most bike shops also sell an adhesive for gluing on grips, but I have never had much luck with those. some forms of carpet & tile adhesives work well, but come in large tube (like caulk gun size) containers that dry out once opened… so apply and throw away the remainder…
slide on bar end and twist 1/4 turn upon bottoming out and let set over night.
safety wire is preferred and works very well even on street bike grips.
there are other types of glues that work well also but I would not recommend 2 part epoxy if you ever intend on putting grips on that bike again mainly due to the next time clean up of the bars. pmk

As usual guardrailjim has the correct answer. Do not use hair spray or clear spray paint to hold on your grips. Any moisture will cause it to lose it’s adhesive properties. Only use grip glue. I use Renthal grip glue myself. One of the small tubes is supposed to do both grips but in my experience it is better to buy two tubes and use one in each grip. Put it on the grip rather than the bar. You can put all of it on the opening of the grip and as you slide it on it will distribute the glue throughout the rest of the grip. XYZ
if it is for an off road bike use 2pt. epoxy on the inside and secure with zip ties if not off road skip the zip or use asme color as grips ie black on black. jorgenson_racing
